A controversial topic in the United States today is immigration. The united states have always been known for having high immigration rates. However, due to recent changes in leadership, new actions have been created to avoid immigration. I believe that immigration should be allowed as long as there are regulations to follow in order to avoid conflict like terrorism. I think the new leadership in america has given immigrants a bad reputation. Most immigrants are only interested in coming to America for a better life , not to cause harm to america.

 

In my photo, I wanted to show how immigrants feel in the process of coming to america. The hand reaching through the fence represents an immigrant. The fence blocking them has two symbolic meanings. The first is a reference to the wall that our leader wants built in order to block immigrants. The second meaning is that the fence is a mental barrier. Even if these immigrants enter into america and become citizens, they might always feel prejudice against them. The fence shows their struggle to fit in. The hand is reaching to the american flag. By the body language, viewers can tell the flag is just out of reach. Freedom seems so close but is so far because of the difficult process to become a citizen.

 

Overall, this photo is very serious and controversial. Many might agree with the regulations to not allow immigrants into america. However, I think immigration should be allowed to a certain extent. As seen in my photograph, immigrants want the american dream so bad. Sadly for many, they will never be able to achieve the freedom they deserve.
