ORDER
Art has always been a big part of my life since I was young. Art is something I use everyday and throughout my life I have learned how to be successful with it. When creating artwork, it is better to be messy and let your ideas flow. If everything is too organized and neat, I am never able to create or build my ideas. I chose to make this photo as a diptych so you could see both sides of my idea. I constructed this idea by having the artist that is neat and organized, painting something ugly and boring while the messy artist is creating something beautiful and colorful. This represents how in my life, it is better to be creative and messy rather than too organized and boring.
My process in taking this photo started with being in an art room environment. In the photo with the neat artist, I aligned all of art supplies neatly and had the Artist’s hair down and straight. This showed how when you don’t let your ideas flow, you will create average artwork. In the second photograph, the artist has a small sheet of paper where she wrote down ideas and all of her supplies were spread about/messy. Also, the artists hair was up in a loose bun which showed her more carefree attitude. Her painting was much more creative due to her messy work space. Typically, people think of being orderly as a good thing. However, in art I believe it’s the opposite that helps inspire me to be imaginative.
I took a risk in this photo by using artwork that I created myself. I am not the best at art, so I initially wasn’t going to create my own work for the photo. Creating my own artwork worked well because I could make the art very simple to get my point across. By just using shapes and splatter paint, the difference in creativity is very prominent. I feel this photograph is something many artists can relate to.
