Paradox is defined as a statement that is seemingly contradictory or opposed to common sense and yet is perhaps true. In recent politics, I see this concept cause a lot of controversy. I think people view global warming as a paradox. I am a strong believer in this theory and I support efforts to minimize our increasing global climate.  At first, global warming was viewed as silly or untrue. But now, even though it hasn't been proven, scientists devote their lives to showing how humans affect the climate. Despite these warnings from scientists, our president, Donald Trump, still thinks of global warming as a “hoax.” To me, if qualified scientists have data and facts on what global warming will do to the earth, Trump should listen to them.

 

My photograph represents how Trump feels about global warming. I chose a character that had similar features to trump like blonde hair, straight face etc. The character is wearing a red shirt as symbolism since Trump is republican. The two characters in the back represent the scientists, environmentalists and believers in global warming. These characters wore darker toned shirts to represent their strong hatred for Trump on this belief. The photo is meant to be symbolic. The “Stop Global Warming” signs portray the voice in Trump's head. Deep down he might believe the scientists, but it is his own pride that makes him think otherwise. Also, the Trump character in my photograph is wearing headphones. These headphones block out the sound to show he won’t listen to what people say and frankly, doesn't want to hear it.

 

To compose the image, I wanted to focus my camera in on Trump. The others in the background are somewhat blurred. This represents how Trump views people who believe in climate change. This specific topic is a lot different from my previous work. I never focus on topics that are too political, but this time I wanted to take a more serious route. I wanted to take a photo that was controversial and open to interpretation.
